With RS facing and smaller needles, starting at bottom right front, pick up 3 sts for every 4 rows on vertical section before decreases begin, pick up 1 st for every row along diagonal neckline, pm, knit across sts on hold for collar, pm, pick up sts for left front as for right, ending with an odd-numbered total st count.

Buttonhole row: Place markers for buttonholes 1"/2.5 cm from the CO edge at left front and 10"/ 25 cm from CO edge, with 2 (3, 3, 4, 4) markers spaced evenly in between. Work in pattern, working a one-row three-stitch button-hole (see page 29) at each marker.
